PTSD

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

This disorder can be brought on directly or indirectly. When we experience a traumatic event or when we see a traumatic event that truly stresses us, it can bring on trauma or stress related events. We can also experience trauma through a close friend or family member revealing the detail of a traumatic event and the sufferings that goes along with that event. As close friends we sometimes sympathize and internalize going through these events as if it were happening to us or we replay the stress filled event(s) and imagine what we would do if this trauma was happening to us.

A few of the symptoms of PTSD are recurring memories that are stress filled, recurring nightmares and flashbacks causing you to relive the traumatic event(s) over and over. Sometime we see things that remind us of the trauma filled event and we began reliving the distress all over again.

Some of our Veterans have seen events that we could not even imagine and some of these traumas they relive over and over. Stressors and traumas that we have not worked thru, we need to seek professional help. Do not be ashamed to seek professional help. The end result could be that you become free to worship God and move forward with your life, pursue other goals and free to live your dreams. Feel free to share because we all grow as a community and sometimes it feels good to talk about it.
